Home sale prices on the rise and selling faster in Missouri

Houses in Missouri are selling faster right now than in months past.

Missouri Realtors sales data showed the real estate market has seen strong increases for property selling.

Property values are also on the rise.

Whether you are buying or selling a home, it is all about timing.

Across the United States home sales have been increasing gradually and have now leveled off, but the prices continue to rise in Missouri.

“The price is something we are just now experiencing and is a very good sign for the economy both here in Columbia and the nation,” said John Sebree, CEO of Missouri Realtors.

Missouri Realtors found last month nearly 6,500 residential properties were sold in Missouri.

While that number is actually down from the previous August, the average price is up 7% from last year at $178,631.

The average number of days for a home to be on the market was 119 days, 2 days shorter than August of 2013.

“That’s a really good sign that it is taking a little less time to sell your property once you put it on the market,” said Sebree.

Scott Daughtery has been building and selling homes in Columbia for more than ten years now.

“We have got a lot more buyers this year than in the last few years,” said Daughtery.

However, the building costs, labor costs, and permit fees are going up.

“Columbia is doing way better than a lot of other communities, even in Missouri and especially in the country. Because Columbia has the hospitals and university we are fortunate to stay more even than a lot of other places in the country,” said Daughtery.

Sebree told ABC 17 News he thinks we are seeing home prices increasing now because of the weather.
