Officials break ground for Angel Lane project

A road many travelers take to the Columbia Regional Airport is getting a facelift.

Boone County Commissioners, Ashland city mayor and many others showed up for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Angel Lane reconstruction project. The road off of Highway 63 is a main route to the airport. It will be closed for two weeks, beginning next Monday, while construction crews resurface the road. The project will cost Boone County and the city of Ashland around $375,000.

Officials said the road reconstruction will greatly improve the area. “The city of Columbia trying to build airport traffic through the airport and cargo traffic and the post office — keep those people here and all those different businesses. It’s going to be a lot better for all of them. And we’re just proud to be part of it,” said Karen Miller, Boone County commissioner.

The city of Ashland will take over maintenance of the road once it is complete.
