Police increase security at Blue Note due to group known for excessive partying

Columbia police beefed up security at the Blue Note Friday after learning a group known for excessive partying, “I’m Schmacked,” would be in town.

The group is known to travel to various college campuses and record and produce videos of partying.

A sergeant with the Columbia Police Department told ABC 17 News Saturday they knew the group was planning to come, so they assigned extra officers and at least one fire marshal to the venue for safety and security purposes.

Police said the measures helped curb a lot of issues.

At least six people were arrested for underage drinking and two people were taken to the hospital for suspected alcohol poisoning.

Police said the “I’m Schmacked” group also tried to get into Bengals on Saturday, but they were turned away.
