Columbia man arrested for burglary in El Chaparral neighborhood

A Columbia man was arrested for burglary after an incident on Sonora Drive.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s department, deputies were called to reports of an assault in the 1400 block Monday afternoon. There they learned Gerrell Lawrence, 18, forced his way into the home of someone he knew.

While in the home, Lawrence allegedly attacked a juvenile living there and broke some unspecified items.

Deputies arrested Lawrence for burglary, assault and property damage.
