Power restored in Columbia after days in the dark

Power has been completely restored in Columbia after multiple days of outages following Monday night’s wind damage.

Utility crews from Independence, Fulton, Higginsville, Macon, and Hannibal returned home Friday morning after helping Columbia crews with restoration work.

Repair work on the Fairview utility poles has been completed, and Fairview Road between Broadway and Ash is open to traffic again.

Columbia Water and Light crews will continue to clear branches over the weekend that are close to damaging electric lines if strong winds occur.

Currently there are no estimates on the cost of electrical repairs and debris clean-up, but Columbia Water and Light is tracking the costs.
