Man with pipe accused of damaging local post office, Casey’s

A suspect is in the Randolph County jail after allegedly damaging a Mid-Missouri post office and local Casey’s.

The sheriff’s department got an alarm 2:13 a.m. Tuesday from the Casey’s in Higbee, about 15 minutes south of Moberly. Deputies found Brian Sumpter, 49, damaging things in the store using a large metal pipe.

While getting arrested, deputies also claim Sumpter admitted hitting the Higbee post office. They found similar damage there, including a broken glass front door.

Sumpter was treated for cuts on his feet, from walking on the broken glass. His bond is currently $10,000 for burglary and property damage.
