One hospitalized after apartment fire in Columbia

A fire at a Columbia apartment sent one person to the hospital early Monday. The fire started at around 2 a.m. in the 2400 block of White Gate Drive.

Firefighters reported the fire was out, but there was still heavy smoke inside the apartment. One person was inside and was taken to a hospital. Their current condition is unknown.

The damage was contained to one apartment, and has been estimated at $3,500. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
