Columbia crews respond to basement fire

Columbia fire crews responded to a basement blaze just before 5 a.m. Sunday on Fair Haven Road.

Officials said only one person was at home when the flames started, but was out of the structure when firefighters arrived.

Crews were able to put out the fire within 10 minutes after arriving on the scene. The fire was contained to the basement.

Damages are estimated to be $65,000.
