Man charged in deadly JC crash in court Monday

A Columbia man indicted for second degree murder, assault and DWI for a deadly crash in Jefferson City last year will be in court Monday morning for a plea hearing.

29-year-old Dennis Leporin was allegedly driving drunk when he hit a car on Highway 54, killing the 19-year-old driver and seriously injuring the passenger.

Leporin has at least two prior DWI convictions, according to court documents.

A Cole County judge has set Monday’s appearance for a guilty plea hearing at 9 a.m. The jury has been cancelled.
