New Franklin looks to defeat Northeast (Cairo) this season

Wednesday at TR Hughs Stadium, the Northeast (Cairo) bearcats route the New Franklin bulldogs 12-6 in the Class 1 semi-finals.

The Bearcats scored in every innings except the fourth.

At the bottom of the second New Franklin scored two runs taking their only lead of the game.

Following, Northeast (Cairo) scored three, then four runs in the fourth and fifth inning to extend their lead.

This was the third time these two teams played each other and the third time Northeast (Cairo) defeated New Franklin.

After the game, New Franklin head coach Erich Gerding said, “we knew coming in to the game and talked about how we couldn’t give them anything and we gave them too much with six errors. Same game different day, we just gave them way too much.”

New Franklin will play Dadeville in the Class 1 baseball third place game at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow.

Northeast (Cairo) will play in the Class 1 baseball championship game at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow against Cooter Wildcats.
