Missourians still without tax refund check

As of today, the state of Missouri owes 290,000 people a tax refund check.

The amount of money the state still owes is approximately one hundred and twenty-eight million dollars.

The Department of Revenue said, “We are working as quickly as possible to process tax refunds, but as cash flow allows it.”

Bert Doerhoff, a Jefferson City C.P.A. said, “Right now, for some reason they are delaying them… But they do have a period of time before they have to pay interest.”

Missouri’s interest on refunds is 0.6 percent.

However, the interest rates on tax delinquencies, is three percent.

Doerhoff said, “The state has always been good about getting refunds back before the deadline of August fifteenth.”
