Two Columbia roads to close for construction Tuesday

Two major roads in Columbia are set to close for construction beginning Tuesday.

MODOT will begin repairs on the Highway 63 northbound off ramp to Route WW, or Broadway bridge, over Hominy Creek Tuesday night beginning at 7:00.

Drivers needing access to Route WW from northbound will have to continue down Highway 63 until they get to Vandiver and cross over Highway 63. Then they will have to get back on Highway 63 and take the Broadway exit going southbound.

Drivers will have to use this detour until 6:00 a.m. Friday, June 6.

Columbia Public Works will also close a major intersection in south Columbia.

The Scott Boulevard and Vawter School Road intersection will shut down Tuesday morning beginning at 7:00.

Two alternate routes drivers in that area can take are Route KK or Route K. ABC 17’s Jillian Fertig timed those routes last week during peak traffic time at 5 p.m. Route KK timed out to be a five and half minute detour and Route K timed out to be an eleven and a half minute detour.

This project will take three weeks to complete, weather permitting. It is scheduled to reopen on June 17.
