MONDAY UPDATES: Missouri DHSS adds 51 coronavirus related deaths after analyzing death certificates
Missouri DHSS has added 51 COVID-19 related deaths after the state’s disease surveillance system analyzed several death certificates.
Officials say the deaths will be captured and reported publicly through the dashboard Tuesday morning.
Of the 51 deaths:
- one in August
- one in October
- three in November
- three in December
- two in January
- two in February
- one in March
- two in April
- 36 in May
Officials at DHSS report the weekly activity typically causes a sharp increase in the deaths added to Missouri’s total the following day. DHSS is now regularly analyzing death certificates on Mondays.
Officials say the state does not track probable or pending deaths.
Boone County coronavirus dashboard moves hospital status up to yellow
The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting nine new COVID-19 cases for the past three days.
There are currently 49 active cases in the county.
The county now has a reported total number of COVID-19 cases of 18,584.
The county has reported the total number of cases removed from isolation is 18,419.
The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services dashboard has reported the latest five-day average as 2.6.
The health department has moved the Boone County hospital status to yellow.
Yellow status refers to hospitals operating within standard capacity and meeting any of the following criteria:
- Delaying non-emergency patient transfers from referring hospitals due to capacity for greater than two (2) days, or
- Delaying non-emergency patient transfers from referring hospitals due to staffing for greater than two (2) consecutive days, or
- Delaying non-urgent procedures and operations to provide additional inpatient capacity
The health department is reporting the total number of hospitalizations in Boone County is 30.
The health department is reporting five Boone County residents are in the hospital due to the coronavirus.
The dashboard is showing 19 COVID-19 patients in the ICU and 10 patients on a ventilator.
The State of Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard is reporting that 87,949 residents have received their first dose in Boone County and 76,038 Boone County residents have completed their vaccine doses.
Boone County has the largest percentage of people in Mid-Missouri that have received at least one dose of the vaccine with 48.7%. The second closest in the state is St. Louis County with 46.4%.
Boone County is first in the state with a reported 42.1% of residents that have completed their coronavirus vaccine doses. St. Charles County is second in the state with 38.6% of residents have completed the doses for vaccination.
Cole County has the second-highest first vaccination rate in Mid-Missouri with 39.1%. Montgomery County is third with 34.8%.
