Truck drives into north Columbia duplex

Columbia fire and medics were on scene of a truck that had crashed into a duplex apartment Saturday evening.

The crash happened at 3215 Mexico Gravel Road in north Columbia around 6:15 p.m. One man was taken to a local hospital, but his name and condition had not been released.

An ABC 17 News crew was at the scene at 6:25 p.m. and reported the vehicle had driven into the duplex on the right side of the building, near the front door and what appeared to be the living room.

No one was home at the time of the crash.

Within an hour, support beams had been erected along the hole in the wall.

A firefighter told ABC 17 News the truck missed the majority of the building’s support structure, but it was unclear if the neighbors would be able to move back in.
