Fire destroys garage in south Columbia

A south Columbia home had minor smoke damage after a fire destroyed an adjoining garage Saturday morning.

Boone County Fire Protection District crews responded to 4320 South Brushwood Lake Road around 9:36 a.m. for reports of a building on fire.

Battalion Chief Gale Blomenkamp told ABC 17 News later that the cause remained under investigation.

Damage to the garage was estimated at $50,000 Saturday night.
