Moberly police arrest man after trespassing

MOBERLY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Moberly police department arrested a man at 300 N College Avenue Friday night after he was reported entering at least two separate apartments without the consent of the residents.

A press release from the Moberly police department said officers responded to the apartment complex around 8:30 p.m. on Friday. 35-year-old William Smith of Moberly was arrested at the scene.

Officers said he seemed to be impaired by an unknown controlled substance and was uncooperative with officers. While being taken into custody and being charged for first degree trespassing, Smith head-butted and kicked the arresting officer.

He was then transported to the Randolph County Justice Center and placed on a 24-hour hold on trespassing and assault charges.

Formal charges were filed on Saturday against Smith by the Randolph County Prosecutor for assault on law enforcement.

As of Sunday night, Smith remains in custody at the Randolph County Justice Center.
