Runaway seriously hurt in Mid-Missouri car crash

A 15 year-old girl was seriously hurt in a Mid-Missouri car wreck Sunday morning. Emergency crews responded to a crash around 8:20 a.m. The SUV had overturned after hitting a bridge near Hartsburg Bottom and Bush Landing roads. The Chevy Blazer was already reported stolen out of Indianola, Iowa, near Des Moines.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found two teenagers with injuries. They also tracked down three more teens that had run toward the Missouri River, including two boys, ages 13 and 16 years old, and another 15 year-old girl.

Four out of the five had already been reported as runaways in Iowa. The 15 year-old girl was still in the hospital as of Monday morning. The others have been released to juvenile authorities.
