Kraft Foods recalls 96,000 lbs. of hot dogs

Kraft Foods Group, a Columbia-based establishment, recalled more than 96,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer brand hot dogs Sunday after a packaging mix-up.

The Oscar Mayer Cheddar Classic Wieners produced on March 2 and 3 may have been labeled as just Classic Wieners.

Another problem, according to an announcement from the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, was that the labels left off milk, a known allergen, as an ingredient. It was associated with the pasteurized cheese in the products.

The affected products were sold in 16 ounce packages and cartons of 16 ounce packages, with establishment number “Est.537H.” They were sold with a USE BY date of June 2014.

A consumer found the problem and told the company on April 18 and the company contacted the USDA the next day.

No illnesses had been reported in connection to the recall on Sunday.
