How to get alerts when severe weather is nearby

Your first thought when you hear of severe weather warnings may be outdoor tornado warning sirens. While these are great tools for people who are outdoors and possibly unaware that severe weather is inbound, they are not meant to warn people within their homes. People who are indoors may not hear the sirens, which is why you should have several different ways to get notifications.

Having a weather radio is the best option for getting alerts for your area, and having notifications sent right to your phone via different organizations is a close second. You can download the ABC17 Stormtrack Weather App for free on the Google Play Store and Apple Store, and it will send you notifications right to your phone when severe weather is nearby. Think of the ways you'll be getting notifications for tomorrow ahead of time.
