Tracking afternoon showers and storms

TUESDAY: Showers will greet some folks out the door this morning, but more are expected to develop this afternoon. A few heavier downpours and some thunder will accompany some of these later today. Highs will top our near 80.

TONIGHT: The chance of showers will linger overnight, but will be pretty isolated. Lows will return to the middle 60’s.

EXTENDED: Most of us look to stay dry Wednesday, with most of the activity firing in the afternoon near I-44. Temperatures look to reach the middle 80’s with a little more sunshine helping us get there. A complex of storms will form in Nebraska Wednesday night and head our direction. It looks to arrive early in the day Thursday, bringing a loud start to what could be an eventful day. These storms are expected to hold together pretty well, bringing a threat for some gusty winds primarily. But how quickly it moves through, could set us up for another round in the afternoon. Those too, will pose as great, if not a greater, threat for severe weather. All modes of severe weather look possible, so be weather alert throughout the day. On the other side of those storms, some cooler and quieter conditions wait for us. Highs will drop into the low 70’s Friday, with the humidity taking a rest as well. We’ll stay dry until late on Sunday into Memorial Day, when rain chances will return.
