Stove causes fire in commercial building near Moberly

A fire left moderate damage to a commercial building north of Columbia Wednesday morning.

Crews went around 7:30 a.m. to the 1400 block of County Road 1570 in Randolph County near Highway 24, about 15 minutes east of Moberly.

Investigators think the blaze started in the stovepipe of a wood heater. The flames were contained to the attic.

Units responded from the Northeast R-IV Rural Fire Association, Eastern Randolph Rural Fire Department and Madison West Monroe Protection District. All of them cleared the scene roughly two hours later.
