Two accused of growing psychedelic mushrooms in Jefferson City

Two people landed in the Cole County jail Tuesday for allegedly growing psychedelic mushrooms in their Jefferson City home.

Police, deputies, troopers and members of the local MUSTANG drug task force carried out a search warrant at 316 E. Ashley Street, near Adams Street.

Investigators said they found a large plastic bag with roughly four pounds of mushrooms, one pound of marijuana and three guns. They also seized $1,820 in cash.

The drugs have a street value of roughly $9,000. Both suspects are awaiting charges.
