State Wrestling Finals Recap
Tolton junior wrestler Jaydin Clayton clinched his third state title on Saturday at the MSHSAA state wrestling tournament. Clayton pinned his man to take the Class 1 title in the 138 pound weight class. The junior sets himself up for history next season, as he tries to become the second Columbia wrestler to win four state titles.
Clayton’s teammate, Will Tindal, also won a state title in the 182 pound weight class.
Blair Oaks takes the Class 1 title, thanks to state title victories from Logan Mudd and Cole Kemna. Mudd won on a 5-0 decision while Kemna’s title in the 170 pound weight class clinched the team title, the first in school history.
Rock Bridge finished in second in Class 4, with Cody Maly and Josiah Kline as the Bruins’ two state champions. Maly and Kline both won close decisions, winning 3-2 and 2-1 respectively.
Other local state champions include Fulton’s Josh McClure (Class 2, 138 lbs) and Marceline’s Dylan Wheeler (Class 1, 106 lbs).
