University of Missouri football player arrested for peace disturbance

University of Missouri police arrested a member of the MU football team Thursday night.

Levi Copelin, a wide receiver, was booked into the Boone County Jail on suspicion of disturbing the peace.

MU police say around 4 p.m. Thursday, Copelin went to get a new ID car in the student ID office in the Student Center off Rollins Road. Police say after Copelin was given a replacement ID, he was told there was a hold on his account.

Copelin allegedly made comments that the staff found to be threatening then left the office. Staff called police and investigators called Copelin into the department.

After investigators talked with Copelin, he was arrested.

Police cannot get into details about the comments said because they are part of the investigation.

A Missouri football spokesperson told ABC 17 News, “We’re aware of the situation and we are dealing with it internally.”

Thursday’s arrest is Copelin’s second in Columbia.

In Oct. 2012, Copelin was arrested near Memorial Stadium in Columbia for drug possession. Teammates Dorial Green-Beckham and Torey Boozer were arrested along with Copelin.

All three were suspended for the Tigers’ game against Vanderbilt several days later. Copelin pleaded guilty to a trespassing charge related to that arrest.
