Transformer fire causes power outages

Boone County fire crews were called to the scene of a transformer fire off Broadview Court in east Columbia just before 10:00 p.m. Thursday night.

BEC reported an outage affecting roughly 150 people in the Sunrise Estates just before 8:00 p.m. Sunrise Estates is just south of I-70 and west of Rt. Z.

Crews were able to put out the fire, but no word what may have cause it.

BEC reported power restored to more than hundred customers by 10:30 p.m., leaving only 43 affected.
