Mizzou gymnastic losses to Arkansas in home opener 196.050 to 194.650

The Missouri tiger gymnastic team opened their home meets Friday night losing to the Arkansas Razorbacks 196.050 to 194.650, despite the loss, 11 Tigers tied or set career highs.

In the first rotation, Missouri began on vault.

Two tigers scored high than a 9.800. Freshman Angie Kern scored a 9.825 and Junior Rachel Updike finished off the rotation with a 9.875. The Tigers finished the ven with a 48.775.

Bars proved to the be most successful event for the Tigers.

Elmore once again set a new personal best with a 9.725, and was followed by a new career high from junior Briana Conkle tallied a 9.775.

The third rotation saw Missouri on beam where two more Tiger’s career highs were either matched or eclipsed.

Freshman Sasha Sanders trumped her previous personal best set last week at Alabama with a 9.775 and senior Mackenzie McGill scored a 9.775.

Updike capped off her outstanding meet with a 9.9 on floor tying her career high first set last season at LSU.

Missouri finished on floor, and ended the event with a team score of 48.500.

The Tigers recorded scores of 48.500 or higher for each event. Heimsath began the event with a new career high of 9.700, while fellow freshman Kern beat her personal best with a 9.675 while junior Katelyn Trevino rounded out the night on floor with a 9.8.

The Tigers are back next Friday, Jan. 24 with the Kentucky Wildcats coming to mid-Missouri. The two SEC opponents will square off at 6:30 p.m. CT.
