Man in custody after two-hour standoff in Jefferson City

Police were held up for two hours after a “shots fired”call.

It started around 7 p.m. Thursday when police were called to an apartment to investigate possible shots fired.

Upon their arrival, police say, 37-year-old Jeremy Shacklett refused to cooperate and locked himself in an apartment.

Police then found that Shacklett had outstanding domestic-assault and larceny warrants.

Officers blocked off a block in each direction during the standoff as a precaution.

After about two hours, crisis negotiators were able to get Shacklett to come out peacefully. He was then arrested without struggle.

Shacklett did not have a gun on his person and police were not able to locate the weapon that caused the shots-fired call.

Police say they are still not sure who fired a weapon and this is still an open investigation.
