Police respond to early morning shooting on Columbia’s south side
Columbia police responded to a report of shots fired in the 3900 block of Peachtree Drive in south Columbia early Sunday morning.
Officers on the scene found several shell casings and damage to a business from gunfire.
Dave Faron, co-owner of 44 Stone said a bullet ricocheted through a window of his restaurant, sailed through the dining room, went through a wall and into an office.
“The bullet hole in the curtain here, that’s right about head height,” he said. “So if someone would have been sitting down in a chair right here, it could have gotten really bad.”
Faron said it started with a fight at Southside Pizza and moved across to his parking lot. Shots were then fired before at least one vehicle peeled out and left the scene.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said they were in pursuit of a vehicle overnight that matched the description of one involved in the shooting. The chase ended in the El Chaparral neighborhood in Boone County. Troopers said the two suspects abandoned their car and fled on foot.
No injuries have been reported at this time and as of Sunday night, no suspect descriptions were available.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call police or Crime Stoppers at 875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
