Man turns himself in after Fulton police shootout

Gurley turned himself into the Fulton Police Department Saturday afternoon. He is in the Calloway County Jail with a $100,000 bond.

Fulton police were looking for a man wanted after a traffic stop led to shots fired on 7th and Nichols Street Thursday night.

Lionel Gurley, 36, fled the scene in the 800 block of Nichols after police say he tried to hit a responding officer. That led officers to open fire on the car as Gurley drove away.

According to a news release, Gurley was in the process of being taken into custody after a traffic stop at 10:49 p.m. It’s not clear why he was pulled over.
