Shooter or shooters still on the run after violent week in Columbia
Three shootings in 48 hours, four shootings since Christmas Eve and the shooter or shooters are still on the loose.
The week of violence in Columbia started on Christmas Eve, when was a woman was shot while inside her home on Benton and Forest roads.
Then on Friday night, residents of Greensboro Drive in North Columbia reported hearing a loud argument before several gunshots. A car was hit by bullets.
Just a few hours after that shooting and only about a mile away, a bar fight escalated into the parking lot and a 25-year-old man was shot in the back of the head on Wagon Trail Road.
And finally, a car and home were shot on Rice Road Sunday night.
Right now, law enforcement does not have a suspect description for any of the shootings. They’re also not sure if any of the shootings are related.
Residents of Rice Road told ABC 17 News they’re extremely nervous now, especially because the shooters are still on the run.
“It’s hard to feel safe at night not knowing whose house is going to be shot up next,” one resident who didn’t want to be identified said.
Residents tell ABC 17 News they’re angry police haven’t made any arrests yet. But Sgt. Joe Bernhard with Columbia Police said the investigations take time.
“It takes getting more information, more time, to get all the information right and make arrests,” Bernhard said.
Both victims have been treated and released.
If you have any information on these shootings, law enforcement urges you to call Crimestoppers at 573-875-TIPS.
