Woman hurt in icy conditions south of Columbia

One woman was hurt early Friday because of frost on the roads south of Columbia.

Officials with the Missouri Highway Patrol said a driver lost control just after 8 a.m. on Highway 64 near the Route H overpass by the Columbia airport. The car was totaled after slamming into a pillar, and Sandee Mitchell, 46, went to University Hospital with moderate injuries.

But officials with the Southern Boone County Fire Department reported three more slide-offs in the same area because of icy conditions. One of them hit a slick spot and damaged a parked patrol car. It belonged to a trooper who was also directing traffic at the time and not injured.
