4 Marshall firefighters, 1 trooper injured while assisting in rollover crash

Four firefighters from Marshall and a Missouri Highway Patrol trooper were injured while working to clear a rollover crash on eastbound I-70 at mile marker 77.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said just after 4 p.m., a car driving too fast for road conditions on westbound I-70 lost control. The car went through the median, over the guardrail and struck four of the firefighters.

A trooper jumped out of the way and received minor injuries.

Two firefighters were taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall. One firefighter has minor injuries and the other has serious injuries.

The other two firefighters sustained serious injuries and were taken to University Hospital in Columbia.

One of those four were released from the hospital Sunday afternoon.

All injuries are non-life threatening.
