Moberly family arrested for Idaho kidnapping
Three Moberly residents were arrest Saturday night near Boise, Idaho for an attack and kidnapping that afternoon.
Police in Meridian said the non-custodial mother of a five-year-old boy had planned to meet his father and visit the child Saturday.
26-year-old Korey MacDonald, her husband Jonathan MacDonald and her brother Joshua Reeves, all of Moberly, were in the Cassia County, Idaho jail Sunday.
The three faced charges of kidnapping, aggravated battery and battery.
Meridian police said the three Moberly residents planned to meet the boy and his father at a store near Central Drive and Progress Avenue around 4 p.m. Saturday.
When the father arrived with the boy, he was attacked and subdued with a stun gun. The three others took the boy and started driving.
“”The parent had sole custody of the child where the other parent had none. Arriving in town from out of state and in town for a day or so, and this whole thing goes down. The fact that a weapon was used. That’s what makes it stand out more is that that’s just not a typical event to occur,” Meridian police sergeant Martin Flores told CBS affiliate KBOI Saturday.
Idaho State Police said a trooper stopped the suspects three hours later, when they had pulled over to fill up on gas.
The five-year-old was uninjured and reunited with his father Saturday night.
A check of criminal records in Missouri showed that Joshua Reeves, 23, pleaded guilty to felony theft/stealing of a firearm and was sentenced to three years in prison in 2010. In January 2011, Reeves pleaded guilty to misdemeanor resisting arrest and was sentenced to 15 days in jail.
In September 2013, Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney filed a motion to revoke Reeves’ probation, but it was denied by the court. The judge citing that the court said it had not granted probation.
