Highway Patrol confirms 4 deadly crashes in Mid-Missouri

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has confirmed there were at least four fatal accidents in Mid-Missouri on Friday.

Officials are blaming the accidents on slick conditions on area roads.

The latest crash was on Highway 50 near Highway 89 in Osage County. Police say Jerome Hinrichs, 68, of Wildwood, Mo., was traveling eastbound when his vehicle slid off the road and overturned.

Hinrichs was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City where he was pronounced dead.

In Callaway County, Cody Ricker, 19, of Holts Summit, was killed in an accident on Highway 54. Troopers say Ricker lost control of his car, crossed the median and was struck by an oncoming car. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol.

In Phelps County, Charity Adams, 16, of Licking, Mo., was killed when the car she was riding in lost control on Highway 63 and overturned.

Law enforcement also worked a fourth fatal crash on Route D near the Spencer Creek Bridge in Camden County. Troopers say Karla Brown, 42, of Camdenton, was traveling northbound when her car hit a patch of ice, causing her to lose control and hit an oncoming car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
