Columbia Regional Airport adds second Chicago flight
American Airlines announced Wednesday it will add an additional flight to and from Columbia Regional Airport.
The new flight will begin April 2. It will depart Columbia daily at 6 a.m. and land at Chicago O’Hare Airport and 7:05 a.m. A flight will also depart Chicago at 6:35 p.m. and arrive in Columbia at 7:45 p.m. daily.
The airline and city say the flight was the result of customers’ requests for additional nonstop flights to Chicago.
“American remains very pleased with our service at Columbia Regional Airport and the tremendous support we’ve received from the Mid-Missouri community,” said Dale Morris, American’s regional vice president of government affairs.
American has already started reservations online.
Starting in April, Columbia Regional will have two daily flights to both Dallas/Fort Worth and Chicago.
“Mid-Missouri’s relationship with American Airlines is healthy, strong and growing. Mid-Missouri will soon see a total of four daily flights to Chicago O’Hare and Dallas Fort Worth, the second largest and fourth largest airports in the world,” said Mayor Bob McDavid.
Just this week, American and US Airways merged to form the world’s largest airline. It’s not known if the merger will have any subsequent effect on operations out of Columbia Regional.
