Trial delayed for pastor accused of rape and sodomy
The trial of a Mid-Missouri pastor accused of sex crimes has been delayed.
Moniteau County prosecutor Shane Healea told ABC 17 News that Travis Smith’s trial will be pushed back to next year.
The trial was scheduled to begin Tuesday, however Hayley said the defense asked for the delay in order to take a deposition from a witness.
Smith is charged with statutory rape and statutory sodomy from an alleged 2005 incident.
He is the pastor for First Baptist Church in Stover. As of Monday evening, Smith was still listed as the church’s pastor.
