Mid-Missouri communities host free Thanksgiving meals

Several free Thanksgiving meals will be offered across Mid-Missouri.

In Columbia, volunteers are still needed for the 16th annual “Everybody Eats” event. The meal is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stamper Commons on the Stephens College campus.

Organizers say volunteers are needed at 9 a.m. to help with setup. This year, baskets of food will not be offered, but organizers and volunteers will serve a meal to hundreds of people.

The Salvation Army will also host a meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lee’s Chicken on Paris Road. The event is still looking for dessert donations.

In Jefferson City, the traditional dinner will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on East McCarty Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 573- 635-6143.

In New Bloomfield, the United Methodist Church will offer a meal from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Those needing a ride to the church or need a dinner delivered in New Bloomfield or Holts Summit can call 573-230-8673.

The Eighth Annual Community Goodwill Thanksgiving dinner in Moberly is at Zion Lutheran Church’s Fellowship Hall from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Home delivery is also possible by calling 573-263-3256 extension 10.
