Possible gas leak leads to early release at Helias; water issues force Tolton online

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City private school said Thursday it is dismissing early because of a possible gas leak, while a Columbia school is operating online because of water problems.

Helias Catholic High School warned of the possible gas leak on its campus Thursday morning via social media, saying all students and staff were being moved to the athletic complex. Less than two hours later the school said it was dismissing early and asked parents to pick up students who don't drive as soon as possible,

Students at Tolton Catholic High School in Columbia were taking their classes online Thursday because of a lack of water pressure. A school spokesperson said water pressure dropped Monday after a tower was drained but referred questions about the cause of the pressure drop to city utilities.

The spokesperson said Tolton hopes to have students back in class next week.
