Fire destroys Boone County home

A Tuesday afternoon fire destroyed a Boone County home.

Around 3:30 p.m., emergency crews were called to the 2000 block of Highway O for a reported structure fire.

Twenty-one Boone County Fire Protection District units responded to the house fire and saw flames and smoke coming out of the roof.

There were no injuries and no one was home at the time of the fire.

Firefighters say the home is a total loss and damage is estimated at $100,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and investigators are expected to be back at the scene Wednesday.
