Months-long road work on I-70 underway in Callaway County

CALLAWAY, Mo. (KMIZ)

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, work to improve pavement will take place on I-70 over the next several months.

Contractors working with the department began work Wednesday night at the Boone/Callaway County line.

The repairs, expected to last until November, will wrap up in Kingdom City.

The overall project will include resurfacing of lanes and ramps as well as guardrail upgrades.

While much of the work is scheduled to take place overnight, periodic lane closures along I-70 are expected.

ABC 17 News crews observed signs along I-70 alerting drivers to upcoming road work and lane closures early Thursday morning.

The project, while expected to wrap up in November, is weather permitting and could be delayed further.
