St. Louis man arrested for Jefferson City robbery and shooting

A St. Louis man has been arrested for a robbery and shooting in Jefferson City.

Police in the capital city say Joseph A. Cotton, 26, was arrested Monday.

Investigators say Cotton is connected to the Nov. 9 robbery of the McDonald’s on Jefferson City as well as a Nov. 16 shooting that injured four people on Madison Street.

Police say while they were investigating the incidents, they discovered the two crimes were connected.

Cotton was arrested for first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and two outstanding warrants. One of the warrants was for a probation and parole violation for burglary.

He is in the Cole County Jail pending formal charges.

Police say they are still investigating the robbery and there may be additional potential suspects.
