Five people arrested for mailbox vandalism

Jefferson City police arrested five people for a string of mailbox vandalism incidents around the capital city.

Officers got a complaint Sunday afternoon about someone throwing filled water bottles at mailboxes on Haaf Drive. Police used the vehicle description they got to find and stop the suspect vehicle on Monroe Street.

Five adults – four men and one woman – inside the vehicle admitted to damaging 5-10 mailboxes. All were arrested on suspicion of property destruction.

So far police have found 15 damaged boxes, but believe there may be more. If you think your mailbox has been vandalized, call the Jefferson City Police Department at (573) 634-6400.
