Four injured in Jefferson City shooting

Police in the Capital City say a suspect is on the run after a Saturday night shooting that injured four people.

Around 11:46 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunshots in the 700 block of Madison Street.

Police say a gunman fired multiple rounds and hit four people. Three were treated for their injuries at a local hospital and released. The fourth victim was transferred to a hospital in Columbia, but his injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

No suspect description was released.

ABC 17 News talked to witnesses who said it happened outside of Lush night club.

“It looked like he [a victim] was starting to go down a little bit and they helped him over to the sidewalk and laid him down on the sidewalk,” one witness told ABC 17 News. “The paramedics were working on him over there and it looked like they had taped his leg up.”

Another witness said the scene on Madison Street was blocked off until almost 4 in the morning while police were looking for evidence.

Local business owners told ABC 17 News they are losing business because people are too afraid to come to the area, which was starting to see a renaissance.

Neighbors said they worry the area is taking a downward turn again.
