Jefferson City residents attend forum to discuss future of school district

Talks continued in Jefferson City Sunday about planning for the future of the quickly-growing school district.

Several dozen people showed up to the town hall-style meeting held in the Jefferson City High School cafeteria.

“Today was about providing the community with information about our plan, the information we’re looking at to come up with a 20-year plan for the facilities in the Jefferson City Public School District,” said co-chair of the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee, Lorelei Schwartz.

School growth has been a hot topic since a proposed new high school bond and levy issue was voted down a few months ago.

The district said it’s still in the early stages of planning.

Another public hearing is scheduled December 19.
