Police investigate possible accidental shooting in northeast Columbia

A person was taken to a hospital after an overnight shooting in northeast Columbia that might have been an accident.

According to the Columbia Police Department, officers responded to the shooting around 2:34 a.m. near the Interstate 70 and Highway 63 connector.

Police said a victim with a gunshot wound was taken to Boone Hospital, but that person's name or condition weren't released.

Police said the victim told officers they were shot when the gun accidentally went off.

No one else was hurt and no arrests have been made.
