Tracking a clear and breezy Saturday, rain on Sunday

TODAY: Temperatures start off a bit cool in the mid 50s but will soar to the mid-80s by the afternoon. Winds will pick up early on with gusts up to 25 mph.

THIS EVENING: Clouds stay out of the area with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s by sundown. Count on breezes continuing into the night.

EXTENDED: A slow moving cold front will approach from the north on Sunday, with a chance for scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder by late afternoon/evening. There's no severe weather threat on Sunday, but ingredients look better for a few strong storms on Monday afternoon into the evening with the front draped across the state. Noting a lack of wind shear, the tornado threat would likely be low, but can't rule out isolated hail and a few strong wind gusts. The cold front will push south of us on Tuesday, but rain chances remain at least during the day. Behind the front, temperatures cool into the lower 60s through Tuesday afternoon. We'll continue to see highs in the low 60s through Friday with another chance of rain on Thursday. Rain amounts will be in the 0.5" to 1" range between Sunday and Thursday.
