Columbia man referred to prison program after guilty plea in shooting case

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man could spend four months in prison after pleading guilty to several different crimes over the last two years.

Antonio H. Robinson pleaded guilty Monday to four different cases in Boone County. One of those cases stemmed from a northeast Columbia shooting in 2019. Robinson pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of unlawful use of a weapon in that case, admitting that he displayed a weapon in a threatening manner.

Judge Brouck Jacobs sentenced Robinson to a 120-day "shock" program in the Department of Corrections, per an agreement between the prosecutor's office and Robinson's defense team. DOC will recommend whether or not Robinson should be released on probation after 120 days or continue to serve a seven-year sentence.

Robinson also pleaded guilty to several other cases, including numerous drug possession crimes. He also admitted to a similar unlawful use of a weapon case and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child from an August 2020 incident.

Assistant Boone County prosecutor Kristin Mengwasser said she was satisfied with the plea deal. Robinson had no prior felony convictions.
