Tracking a mild and windy Tuesday before storms return
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild with lows in the low 60s. Gusty south winds up to 20-25 mph.
TOMORROW: Warm and windy again with highs in the low to mid-80s along with wind gusts between 25-30 mph. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms possible late in the evening.
EXTENDED: The upper level high pressure ridge that is keeping us much warmer than normal this week will traverse to the east by Tuesday, with low pressure pushing in from the west. This system will drag a cold front across the area between late Tuesday night and Thursday morning, bringing in waves of showers and storms. We'll likely see the most rainfall on Wednesday, especially south of I-70 where the front slows. A few storms may be on the stronger side on Wednesday, producing heavy downpours and isolated hail. The overall severe weather threat will be low given the environment and timing of the front. Showers exit early Thursday as the front slides south, shifting winds to the north for mid-week. That will bring temperatures down between Wednesday and Friday into the upper 60s and lower 70s. We end the week with high pressure building in, keeping things tranquil with plenty of sunshine into the weekend. Highs on Saturday and Sunday reach the mid-70s with clear conditions expected.
