THURSDAY UPDATES: Boone County reports over 50,000 residents have received their two doses of the coronavirus vaccine

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting 21 new COVID-19 cases.

There are currently 105 active cases in the county.

The county now has a reported total number of COVID-19 cases of 18,211.

The county has reported the total number of cases removed from isolation is 18,020.

The county continues to trend down as there have been 84 straight days of single or double-digit case increases.

The health department is reporting one Boone County resident are in the hospital due to the coronavirus.

The county is also reporting a coronavirus related death, bringing the total to 86. The individual was in the 65-69 age group and died on Feb. 14, 2021. 

The State of Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard is reporting that 77,467 residents have received their first dose in Boone County and 50,055 Boone County residents have completed their vaccine doses.

Boone County has the largest percentage of people in Mid-Missouri that have received at least one dose of the vaccine with 42.9%. Boone County has a reported 27.7% of residents that have completed their coronavirus vaccine doses.

Cole County has the second-highest first vaccination rate in Mid-Missouri with 32.9%. Saline County is third with 31.1%.

State health department reports 900 COVID-19 cases

Missouri's state health department reported 900 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday.

The department's coronavirus dashboard said there were 685 new cases through PCR testing and 236 probable cases from antigen testing. Thursday's increase of PCR cases is the largest this week.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the department has reported 498,000 positive COVID-19 cases through PCR testing and 81,430 cases from antigen testing.

Two more deaths were added to the state's total number of virus-related deaths -- 8,691 have been reported.

More than 35% of Missourians have had at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, the dashboard said. The data included nearly one-in-four Missourians have completed vaccination as of Thursday.

The health department said almost two-thirds of residents 55 and older have initiated vaccination. More than half of the same group has also completed vaccination.

State hospital officials said 745 Missourians were hospitalized because of the COVID-19 and 125 others were in ICU beds.
