Columbia police officer suffers heat-related injury while serving warrant

Columbia police say at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday that an officer was injured while serving a search warrant.

Police say the officer suffered a heat-related injury and was taken to a local hospital. He’s in fair and stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

Police say the search warrant was served at a home on the 4300 block of Ludwick Blvd. in southwest Columbia. The SWAT team was looking for stolen property.

Police say they did find items, but won’t release specifics because it’s an ongoing investigation.
